[why]
- to add a level of complexity and dynamics to theatre/performance
lighting not possible using traditional lighting techniques
- converge the methodology of traditional lighting with projected imagery currently used in
multimedia performances and installations so that light can have the textural complexity of
real-world objects and a offer a high level of interactivity with a performer
- to create a lighting program that can be operated live in a dynamic performance environment,
is interactively controlled by a performer on stage through body gestures and has enbedded
artificial intelligence
- to broaden and further the project participants level of involvement in multimedia arts,
using existing skills developed either in web, print, audio, animation, kiosk, theatre or cd-rom
- with Digital Light Processor based hardware it is feasible to start coding a program and
to test/develop hand-in-hand with the progression of hardware in terms of its ANSI Lumens,
contrast ratios and throw distances
