SAIL Senior Tutors please note that there will be a community talk on June 24th from 12pm-12.45pm.  Dave Taylor from Springvale Community Legal Centre and his team will be presenting the second module of their series. The last presentation was a great success and very informative and we are pleased to welcome the team back for a second serving. Please inform your students of this talk.

Legal Resource Kit for Tutors
A notice to all tutors that there are 40 amazing educational legal resource kits kindly donated to SAIL Dandenong by Victorian Legal Aid. This kit is a great educational resource on a wide array of legal issues and has many worksheets and activities, making it accessible to all students, (OK, maybe not the Juniors) Pop into SAIL's library for your own copy, and say hello to our new librarian Justin.

Themes News
There is just one week left of our current theme, “Law and the Child” please feel free to pin your students¡¦ work up on the board - we have noticed that some students have been busily working on projects across the past few weeks, and it would be great to get the  notice board full of great work.

The next theme, commencing on Saturday the 1st of July, will be “A Healthy Me”. This theme presents a great chance to consider anatomy, healthy eating, balanced lifestyles and the effects of harmful substances.

Some questions which could be addressed are:
Why should we lead healthy lifestyles?
How do our major organs operate?
How can we care for our bodies?
What harmful substances do we put into our bodies?
Why is exercise important?

If you find some relevant worksheets or have some ideas that others might be interested in, please let us know. Also, any suggestions for future themes would be greatly appreciated.

Hall Clean Up Thank-you
Once again, we want to thank each and every person who contributes to the clean-up of the hall every week.  It is an incredible effort, and again this week chairs and tables were put away and the hall swept clean.  Your efforts are hugely appreciated!

SAIL-Haileybury Sports Day
Haileybury played host to 40 of our SAILors a few weeks ago and all present were greatly impressed at the football and soccer skills on display. Students had an absolute ball taking part in goal kicking competitions, handball drills, practice matches and a big barbeque put on by year 12 Haileybury students.  Thank you to all students who took  art, their tutors and Frank, a SAIL tutor and Haileybury student, who organised the whole day.

Jackie Farewell Dinner
Last Wednesday saw SAIL take a Thai restaurant of our choice by storm to farewell  Jackie. It was magnificent to have so many SAILors come along, and the evening was a great success, consisting of delicious Thai food, wine and a few well chosen words of thanks. Thank you to all those who could attend and after two and a half years at the helm, we wish Jackie our very very best.

Total trivia

Did you know that Sudan has the largest camel population in the world? Our SAIL trivia team didn’t know that either, which lost us key points in our aim to win the SAILAway Trivia Night!  A number of SAILors were part of a magnificent SAIL Trivia Team, and participated in the SAILAway Trivia Night that aimed to raise funds for a camp scheduled in October that will involve up to 40 Sudanese SAILors.  It was a fantastic night, and it was great to see so many people coming together.  Look out for more updates about this upcoming camp!

Thank you for your donation of time and energy each week. We look forward to seeing the benefits of it as SAIL 06 continues!
