004 - Flash external comms RESOLVED
This issue has been resolved inasmuch as the Flash authoring environment has been determined to be inappropriate for use in this project.

A problem could develop in the use of a web-based language within an intra-component set-up (flash to delphi)

Currently research is continuing into the various methods Flash uses to communicate with external objects or retrieve data from external sources. XMLsocket objects, local connection objects or flash remoting are possible directions. A requirement for a web service has been noted for any implementation of sockets (suitable daemons running the correct protocols seem to be java based).

Another possibility is via AMFPHP, though those mentioned above, it is designed with websites in mind. Installed the service on the test server, connected to it, made 3 calls in test mode and got an undefined variables error in the debugger. Apparently this is due to beta code in the version of AMFPHP (0.9.0).

Ideally there would be no need to run a web service to get the two components talking to each other (Seq and Gen).

More research into the local connection object is to be carried out. lc is designed for comms between flash movies residing on the same machine, to comm to another requires the Flash Communication Server - a trial verison has been downloaded.

Another line of research is to look at Delphi running a simple faux web service that listens to Flash objects and sends to Flash objects.

This issue will be covered in the Test_Case_001 trial scheduled for 6 April.
